Currently in early access, GROUND BRANCH is taking tactical shooters to the next level https://gamerjournalist.com/currently-in-early-access-ground-branch-is-taking-tactical-shooters-to-the-next-level/ Wed, 06 Dec 2023 10:23:53 +0000 https://gamerjournalist.com/?p=525226 A first-person shooter with in-depth character and weapon customization.

Craving an old-school tactical shooter experience? Then set your sights on an exciting new FPS Ground Branch, from one of the developers behind the original Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six.

Developed by BlackFoot Studios and published by the simulation wizards at MicroProse, it takes the traditional tactical shooter and dials the realism up to eleven. BlackFoot boasts it “puts the “tactical” back in tactical shooter, and they’re not wrong.

A New Kind of Immersive Tactical Shooter

Ground Branch delivers solo and multiplayer action including co-op, player-vs-player, and objective-based game modes. It boasts an impressively in-depth customisation system where you choose exactly what you carry, all the way down to how many pouches you want on your vest. Plus, you can mount attachments virtually anywhere along your weapon. We’re absolutely spending six hours perfecting that loadout.

Thanks to Ground Branch’s True First-Person System, that degree of detail extends to the field. You have full control over your protagonist, from leaning to multiple weapon postures. That’s not just about looking cool, either. Every inch of you is modeled, so if you forget to pull your foot in, an enemy, human, or even AI soldier may just put a bullet in it.

Ground Branch is currently in Steam early access but we’ve been blown away by what we’ve seen so far. Going by the many positive Steam reviews, including the short-but-to-the-point “She’s a beaut cobba,” we’re not alone.

With a possible price rise coming once it eventually leaves early access, there’s no better time to buy or wishlist Ground Branch on Steam.

Have you ever wondered what the future will hold, billions of years in the future, assuming we haven’t turned the Earth into a smoking ruin? Will there be flying cars? Food pills? Will we all have shed our bodies and turned into beings of pure energy? Not according to Torment: Tides of Numenera, a fantasy RPG that’s the subject of digital distributor Robot Cache’s latest PC game giveaway.

Conceived as a spiritual sequel to the classic Planescape: Torment, it paints a very different picture. So many civilizations have risen and fallen that the world is a medieval-style mash-up of magic, monsters and unreliable technology. And into all this strangeness, you are born.

You’re not technically a baby, doing 3xd6 damage with your milk teeth, but your protagonist is as new to the world. As The Last Castoff, you wake up to discover you were once the vessel for a body-hopping intelligence. And now they’ve cast you off, you’ve got a life all your own.

It’s up to you what path you take, though your decisions will have profound consequences. Do you take the high road, trying to be a better person than your ‘creator’? Perhaps, knowing that people recognise your current form, you pretend to be your former self? It’s entirely up to you and, should you play your cards right, you can even talk your way out of fighting.

Just don’t expect things to be black and white, Torment: Tides of Numenera is not one of those games. It offers a fascinating, flawed world, with characters whose motivations are muddy at best. And thanks to Robot Cache you can get the PC version absolutely free.

Robot Cache is a PC video game distribution platform that allows you to sell your digital games.  Traditionally, once you’ve purchased a digital game you’re stuck with it, you can’t trade it with a friend or put it on eBay. You’ve seen all there is to see and now that game is languishing in your library, never to be played again.

But with Robot Cache you can give that game a second lease on life. Once you’ve completed a game, or if you’ve just decided you’re done with it, you can go ahead and put it up for sale. And if you’re worried about shortchanging developers, don’t be, because Robot Cache gives developers 70% back when you sell.

The company has 50 publishing partners including Atari, Bethesda, THQ Nordic, inXile Entertainment, so you can get your hands on titles like Destroy All Humans 2, Metro: Last Light and many more. Robot Cache has over 700 games, ranging from indie games through to AAA releases. Plus, you can save big with over 200 titles currently on sale

Robot Cache even offers trials on some titles. Want a taste of The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series? That’s one of the trials available, just don’t complain when the credits roll and you’re blubbing all over your keyboard.

To claim your copy of Torment: Tides of Numenera, which is yours to keep, sign up for a free Robot Cache account here. And while you’re there, check out some of the trials and deals on offer.

The advent of digital distribution has been a huge boon for the proliferation of the games industry. With smaller teams being able to self-publish games on platforms such as Steam, GOG, and even Epic, it has allowed creativity to flow through this hobby and has given underserved niches experiences just for them. One downside, however, is that once you buy something digitally, you’re stuck with it. Don’t like a game you spent $60 on? That’s too bad.

That’s where Robot Cache comes in. Robot Cache is all about allowing buyers to buy, sell, and trade their digital games their own way. If you’re done with something, just resell your games to another user. There’s even potential for a future where a game has been delisted from digital stores but can be resold by someone with a copy. The possibilities are endless now that resales have come to digital distribution.

You might not believe us, however. Maybe this whole thing sounds too good to be true. While simple words won’t do much to persuade you, how about a free game? If you sign-up for an account on Robot Cache, you can claim a free copy of Wasteland 3 on them between July 6, 2023 and July 20. This will let you try out the service and see if you want to start building your digital library with Robot Cache. One of our best incentives, developers will receive up to 95% of all new purchases made from our storefront. Robot Cache even has free trials for a selection of games, allowing you to sample something for a few hours before committing to a purchase.

In essence, Robot Cache is all about giving you more control over your digital library and letting developers reap the rewards of their hard work. We want to change the face of digital distribution so that players have the choice between building a large library of digital titles or off-setting the massive backlogs of free titles and bundled compilations they may have acquired. Let someone else enjoy those games for cheaper while also giving back to the devs.

Break up with boring browsers: Opera GX is built for all things gaming https://gamerjournalist.com/break-up-with-boring-browsers-opera-gx-is-built-for-all-things-gaming/ Fri, 24 Mar 2023 14:41:25 +0000 https://gamerjournalist.com/?p=201476 A browser exclusively for gamers.

Let’s face it, browsing the internet during lengthy gaming sessions while trying to avoid dips in your computer’s performance can be a nightmare. All it takes is a sudden stutter from a website refreshing or YouTube loading a new song during a heated moment in Overwatch 2 and its instant death.  With over 20 million monthly active users, could Opera GX, the first web browser built specially for gamers, be the answer?

While other browsers are great for things like surfing the web and keeping you safe online, Opera GX offers a gateway to gaming culture that puts you at the center. From giving you the power to manage how the browser impacts your PC’s performance during a gaming session, to being able to discover and play awesome free games, Opera GX’s features are next-level. Let’s take a look.

GX Control Panel gives you the power

Things like our GX Control Panel, a built-in network limiter, plus a whole lot more, Opera GX cuts down on system resource usage to put gaming at the front and center of your experience.

With GX Control, you can maintain a mountain of open tabs without needing to dedicate system memory to them. Just put a limit on the amount of CPU and RAM resources you’d like Opera GX to utilize and the browser will smartly prioritize which tabs to keep open. This works hand-in-hand with the Network Limiter, allowing you to keep YouTube open but not dedicate your entire allocation of bandwidth to it.

Never miss a moment

Opera GX’s sidebar gives you control over your social media platforms when you need them. You can log into your Twitch account directly from the browser and get notifications for when your favorite channels go live. Integration with Discord lets you receive messages from friends and servers, allowing you to stay in on the conversation even when browsing. And with TikTok also available directly from the sidebar, accessing your favorite gaming content couldn’t be easier. Plus, you can then quickly jump into voice calls without having to boot up the main app.

Break up with boring

One of the best features of Opera GX, the browser is entirely moddable. While Opera provides some generic customization options such as wallpapers, colors, and special themes, you can dabble in GX Mods to take your browser experience even further. With support for all Google Chrome extensions, you don’t need to lose any functionality when changing over.

Gateway to great games and knowledge

But Opera GX isn’t just great for optimizing your gaming performance. Through GX Corner, a dedicated section of the browser, you can also discover and play awesome free games while also accessing great deals on popular indie hits. GX Corner connects directly to GX.games – a platform packed with inventive and original indie games, many of which are available to play for free. Plus, the GX.games monthly drop gives users the chance to claim and keep two popular indie games each month.

GX Corner also features a cross-platform game release calendar to help you keep track of all the big releases – whatever platforms you play on.

Switching to Opera GX is simple. With a quick import tool that grabs all of your bookmarks, browsing history, and cookies, it’s as easy as installing Opera GX and trying it out for yourself. Just let Opera automatically grab all of your settings and you’ll be off to the races.

Download Opera GX for free here.

AVATARA, which will be playable today on mobile, PC, and web browsers — is a new top-end action MMORPG breaking new ground in the world of gaming by bringing the power of blockchain and NFTs to the masses. While billions of people enjoy traditional games, only about one million players have experienced the unique benefits of blockchain gaming. AVATARA aims to change that by providing a more traditional game experience that is easy for anyone to jump into, while still offering all the benefits of blockchain technology.

In the AVATARA universe, players can sign up for a guild, grow their character, participate in battles and wars, and earn rare items and utility tokens. Items, avatars (NFTs), and even characters can be freely traded among users in the game, giving players true ownership of their virtual assets. And with a focus on the “fun of possible embodiments,” AVATARA is poised to bring Web2 players into the exciting world of Web3.

The AVATARA development team is dedicated to improving the “fun of battles” and the “business models and approachability” of the blockchain in Phase 1. In Phase 2, the team will focus on the interoperability of Web3, recognizing that a strong base is essential for continuous player enjoyment.

Players can earn the in-game currency TARA (Utility Token) by hunting monsters and completing quests, and can invest it to grow their character or swap it for NOX (Platform Token) to cash out on exchanges. And with AVATARA’s NFT avatars, players can journey through the world as a representative of God with formidable powers, summoned through the MINT page and able to be freely traded within the game. Join the adventure and become a part of the AVATARA universe today.

More information on AVATARA is available on the game’s Twitter, Discord, and official website.

Hardcore ARPG UNDECEMBER offers innovative class-free system https://gamerjournalist.com/hardcore-arpg-undecember-offers-innovative-class-free-system/ Sun, 16 Oct 2022 12:00:00 +0000 https://gamerjournalist.com/?p=118398 Prepare for a interesting spin on the ARPG fromat.

With the release of LINE Games’ UNDECEMBER, fans of the hack-and-slash ARPGs will have a compelling new title with unique features compared to any other title in the genre. The developers made a conscious effort to make UNDECEMBER a unique experience fans of the game type would be unable to experience anywhere else — standing out in multiple respects.

The first aspect worthy of praise is the game’s commitment to immersion. Although an ARPG, the developers do not stray away from making the game’s world something people want to invest in. To bring out the dark and interesting world of UNDECEMBER, every cinematic and line of speech has been fully voiced. The amount of effort is very apparent — all the characters come to life. The game also packs a very potent storyline, with books and other mementos highlighting different aspects of the world.

The world doesn’t end with only the environment, though. The character design throughout the entire adventure is very well done — players won’t get tired of all the interesting and highly detailed enemies throughout the world. UNDECEMBER has also been very mindful of designing the characters in tandem with the environment around them — adding another layer to the game’s immersion. It isn’t a generic environment filled with bland monsters, but a world.

Something also noteworthy about UNDECEMBER is its accessibility. The game takes a huge investment in cooperative play —something supported across PC and mobile. Whether they’re playing on a PC or a phone, your friend can join you in UNDECEMBER and aid in beating the more challenging sections of the game. In addition to that, the game offers several options to get into the action: mouse and keyboard, mobile touchpads, and even gamepads.

What sets UNDECEMBER apart from other games, though, is its gameplay. For a hack-and-slash game, it definitely holds its own as a great addition to the genre. Like any other title, the combat system will take a little getting used to, but becomes a very satisfying and entertaining exercise once learned. Even throughout later portions of the game, still running around and fighting enemies remains fun.

However, the most notable aspect of UNDECEMBER that sets it apart from other ARPGs is easily its commitment to class freedom — allowing players to traverse the dark fantasy game on their own original path of advancement. There’s no linear progression like in other games, those enjoying UNDECEMBER have complete freedom.

While other games have skill points determine which play style the player sticks with, UNDECEMBER takes a different approach. The game focuses far more on having balanced character progression — encouraging players to boost all of their stats instead of concentrating on one or two. How this works is through the game’s Zodiac system. The core components to build out a character are Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity, with players receiving points to upgrade and strengthen those three categories as they gain levels (the system expands to more specialized skills after reaching level ten).

The weapons themselves are very interesting — all of them simple but satisfying to use. Again, this is an area where UNDECEMBER’s freedom of choice shines, as there are so many customization options. While those unfamiliar with other games in the genre will probably do best to learn the ropes of the game with a simple sword, there’s still the option to go for other choices like a magic staff or other ranged weapons. The weapon choice isn’t the only fun option to play around with, though. Various customizations exist that make for a much more interesting experience — allowing you to tailor the game a lot closer to your own personal play style. An ordinary sword can soon have interesting add-on’s such a bonus experience or a poison effect to enemies — same with a bow and arrow. In fact, since freedom of expression is the name of the game in UNDECEMBER, even off-the-wall choices like casting magic from a sword are permitted. With how much emphasis UNDECEMBER puts on this, the choices are essentially endless.

Finally, there’s the number of interesting abilities that the game has to offer — thousands of them, in fact. Instead of only unlocking specific attacks at set intervals, players are able to collect Runes that give them the ability to perform different techniques (they can also have their power increased or be imbued with unique skills).

Overall, UNDECEMBER has put together a very interesting and fun spin on the traditional ARPG format. It still holds up as a worthy adversary to any game in the genre — the hack-and-slash action is very enjoyable, the graphics and visual art style are great, and there’s an endless road of content to have fun with. It’s a game that can no doubt be enjoyed for a long time. At the same time, the sheer amount of customization and freedom offered make for a game that allows for far more personality than any that have been released before. Since it’s free to play, it is definitely worth trying out.

You can play the game for free on Steam, IOS, and Google Play.

LINE Games Corporation’s hack-and-slash ARPG UNDECEMBER is now available globally for download across PC and mobile platforms. In the grim world of UNDECEMBER, players will inhabit the role of rune hunters whose goal is to stop the resurrection of the 13th Being Evil God Serpens and restore order to the world.

UNDECEMBER plays similarly to other ARPG classics, but with a unique twist in class composition. You won’t be rigidly stuck to a single class and can grow your character by combining various different runes and equipment pieces together. This will let players experience UNDECEMBER not only at their own pace but with plenty of diversity in character structure.

Cross-play support between the PC and mobile versions is available and UNDECEMBER can be played with keyboard and mouse, touch controls, and gamepads. The game launches with 10 language options, including English, French, German, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified/Traditional).
