MW3 Level 1 Error

You don’t need to worry if you hopped into MW3 only to see your level is reduced to 1. This is part of a wider server problem that is being fixed. Call of Duty Updates account on X (former Twitter) acknowledged the problem and announced that they were working on a solution.

When all is settled, the progress on your challenges and unlocked items should be back where it was. With the upcoming weekend and the double XP active right now, this is the worst time for an error like this one. I can say that the server gods weren’t on COD’s side today.

This Happened Before

An MW3 error like today’s, which hinted to players that their data might be corrupted or lost, has already occurred in December 2023, as you can see in this tweet. Both December and current February errors happened at the start of a new season. This might give us an insight into what we can expect in the future, but hopefully, the team behind MW3 can fix it before season 3, and everybody can just sit back and shoot without having to worry too much!

Where are All DIE Shockwave Upgrades in Outbreak?

First of all, before you go and look for upgrades, you’ll need to acquire the DIE. If you don’t know how to obtain it, you can find instructions later in the article Right now, here are all four DIE Shockwave upgrades and their locations in Cold War Zombies Outbreak:

• Alpine (Cryo-Emitter)
• Duga (Electrobolt)
• Golova (Nova 5)
• Ruka (Thermophasic)

Alpine (Cryo-Emitter)

The Ice, or Cryo-Emitter, upgrade for the DIE Shockwave is appropriately found on the Alpine map. There are three frozen ponds in total, but the Ice upgrade is found on the small frozen pond to the south of the map in a crate. Walk over to it and open up the chest to get it.

Duga (Electrobolt)

The Electrobolt is located on the map Duga. Head over to the giant radar or array tower on the map, and run to the end near the Pack-A-Punch machine. You’ll find the Electrobolt in a crate to the side. Many players consider the Electrobolt to be the best of the DIE Shockwave upgrades.

Golova (Nova 5)

The Nova 5 upgrade for the DIE Shockwave is on the Golova map. You’ll find it near the train loading dock on the west side of the map on top of the pipes. The Nova 5 upgrade is possibly the worst DIE Shockwave upgrade out of the bunch, in our opinion.

Ruka (Thermophasic)

The fire, or Thermophasic, upgrade for the DIE Shockwave is found on the Ruka map in the burnt forest. You can find it far down on the southeast portion of the map, right on the border. Refer to the image for the exact location.

How Can You Get the DIE Shockwave Weapon in Cold War Zombies?

You can get DIE Shockwave either from the Mystery Box or by assembling it yourself. The first method relies on luck, and according to the info we’ve found, it gives you a really slim chance of getting the weapons, so we advise you to go ahead and build the weapon yourself.

To build Die Shockwave by yourself actually means completing an array of quests that will get you access to one free sample of this weapon. This is what you need to do:

• Reforge the Pack-A-Punch Machine.
• Keep playing until a Megaton enemy spawns and kill him.
• After killing Megaton, kill his two reincarnations – Megaton Bomber and Megaton Blaster and get the Keycard.
• Go to the Weapons Locker in the Weapons Lab and insert the Keycard there to get the DIE Remote Control.
• Go to your initial spawn point, head to the ‘Living Room‘, and look for a small walled-off room with a blue light inside.
• You will see an option to turn DIE remotely. Do it, and you’ll notice that the small opening of the blocked room will start sucking the air in.
• Lure zombies to the small opening, so they get sucked in by this odd machine.
• After the machine sucks in enough zombies, the door will blow up, and you’ll be able to pick up DIE Shockwave from a skeleton lying inside.

One specific that players have been seeing pop up a lot more recently is the error that reads “Download instance inventory.” This error typically populates when players are, as you may have guessed, trying to launch the DMZ portion of Warzone 2.0. But how can this be remedied? Well, let’s talk about how to fix the downloading instance inventory error in Warzone 2.0’s DMZ!

What is the Fix for Downloading Instance Inventory Error in DMZ?

There probably isn’t anything more annoying than getting stuck in front of an error screen right before you want to join a MW2 DMZ match. As games have all kinds of weird errors, their fixes can sometimes be even weirder. But hey, I honestly don’t care what I have to do to fix my game as long as it’s fixed. Let’s hop in and see what you can do to fix your MW2 game.

Restart, Restart, Restart

The first thing players should always do when experiencing an issue like this in Warzone 2.0, or really any game, is to close it out completely and restart the game from scratch. If that fails, try restarting your hardware completely. This issue seems to stem from some kind of server slip between your game, the hardware, and the servers on Activision’s side.

Make Sure Your Game is Fully Up to Date

It’s always best to make sure that your game is fully up to date and that there isn’t an update trying to go through while you’re playing Warzone 2.0. It’s always best to close Warzone 2.0 when you’re done playing it so that updates can download and be ready to go on your next session.

Clear Your Cache (Xbox)

One of the things that works with plenty of games and software is clearing the cache if you’re on Xbox. With regards to the original Warzone, this could often be a way to fix these kinds of issues.

Enable Crossplay

A similar error that players were seeing with the instance inventory could also be fixed by making sure that crossplay was enabled in their game settings. Crossplay is a huge feature for DMZ so that lockup could be due to it not being on. Often, silly things fix big errors, and honestly, I don’t ask why as long as it fixes my game!

Move to Another Part of Warzone 2.0

If none of this worked, then just try going into another screen from within Warzone, such as Battle Royale or even the store. Then go back to it. This can often fix the issue, as connecting to another part of the game’s server and then trying to collect the data from DMZs can flip the switch that’s needed.

Check the Server Status of the Game

Sometimes, it’s not about your PC or console. The problem can stem from the game itself, so that is why it’s always wise to check the status of the game on the official Activision site. Whenever the developers are maintaining the game or when there are too many players online, various errors can pop up.

Can you Equip Borealis Completionist Camo in MW3?

The coveted Borealis Camo is given to only the most dedicated and patient COD players out there. Since it’s the last camo you’ll be able to unlock for Zombies, the requirements for it are fairly strenuous. However, it seems even after completing everything you need to for the camo, some players still aren’t able to equip the Borealis. Thankfully, the issue might have resolved itself with a little help from the developers.

Previously, even after completing the 36 Serpentinite camo challenges required to obtain the Borealis camo, it was still locked in your inventory. We now know, thanks to the official Trello board detailing every known MW3 bug, that Borealis was, in fact, bugged.

However, since developers are watching this board intently, the bug has been fixed, and players should be able to equip the Borealis camo if they have properly unlocked it. Furthermore, players can refer to this board for more bugs and errors and even submit their own bugs to hopefully get them fixed as soon as possible.

Where Can You Get Crossbow in MW3 Zombies (MWZ)?

For those who are unaware, you can use weapons that you’ve unlocked during your time playing MW2. However, this is the only way players can use some weapons in MW3. In order to unlock the Crossbow in MWZ, you’ll need to loot it from a weapon crate around the Tier 3 zone. Fortunately, this is not the only way of unlocking the Crossbow in MW3 Zombies.

If reaching the hardest zone in the entire game mode is too tall an order, there are other ways of attaining the Crossbow in MWZ. If you have a friend in your party that has a Crossbow in their loadout, they can drop it for you in-game, allowing you to exfil with it. And while there are even more ways of unlocking the weapon outside of the new zombies mode, these two options are the only way you will get the Crossbow in MWZ. So you better have friends, or you better be good at bobbin’ and weavin’ those tier 3 zombies.

Where is the Warlord and Strauss’ Research?

You can find Warlord during the Storm the Castle mission, after clearing the first two chapters. He’s inside a heavily guarded fortress and he’s armed and very dangerous. After you kill Warlord, he’ll drop his weapon and, more important, Strauss’ Research item.

Merc Camp

To access the later part of the Storm the Castle mission, first, you need to complete the Merc Camp and clear the Merc Stronghold. The first part of this mission is heading over to the Merc Camp in the northeast part of the map. To clear the first check, you need to frag every single mercenary.

Upon clearing the Merc Camp, you will get the keycard to the Merc Stronghold. You can also buy the key card for 2,000 points, but in this case, you will get it as a reward for clearing the first part of the mission.

The Merc Stronghold

The Merc Stronghold is a bit more difficult to clear. It is bigger, and there are stronger enemies, including the Riot Shielders. Make sure you have enough utilities to deal with everything inside. Somewhere inside a stronghold, you will find a safe, and you should start drilling it. Be aware that drilling the safe will attract reinforcements, so you will have to deal with them, too. Once you finish breaking the safe, you will find the fortress key card. This item, called Legacy Keycard, is necessary for the next part, so make sure you bring it with you.

The Fortress

To find the Warlord, you need to access the fortress which is on the northwest side of the map (or top left if that’s easier). There are several ways you can enter The Fortress, but before that, you need to deal with the attack helicopter. Once you destroy the helicopter, you need to make your way inside.

This fortress is heavily defended; it has plenty of sentry turrets as well as elite armored enemies. Additionally, there are reinforcement helicopters that will constantly drop melee mercenaries. After clearing the camp, you follow the icon and use the Legacy keycard on the door.

Upon entering, there would be two riot shield guys. You should lure them out in the open and deal with them. After that, you could push your way inside the main building. Just be careful; there are Bouncing Bettys on the floor and various spring traps, so watch your step. There are also inflatable decoys that will release a flash bang once you shoot them, so avoid that.

The Warlord

Warlord is on the top floor of the building in the middle of The Fortress. After clearing the building, you’ll see a door. Behind that door is the Warlord. Warlord is the toughest opponent in the mission, and he is more than equipped to deal with you quickly. His main weapon is the fire shotgun, and he can rip you to shreds with it. Riot Shield guys are also protecting him, and I recommend clearing them out first.

Be very careful when approaching the Warlord because his loadout is very destructive. After you manage to kill Warlord, he will drop Strauss’s Research item so that way you can check two items at once. Sometimes, Warlord doesn’t drop Strauss’ research after the first playthrough, so you might need to go through the mission once again. You will also collect Warlord’s shotgun, the Fire Haymaker.

How to Equip a Molotov in MW3?

Molotov Cocktails, first introduced in COD: World at War, these incendiary devices allow players to rain hellfire from a bottle upon their enemies. However, it seems that they might not be working as planned in MW3. Because as of right now, you can only use Molotov’s in MWZ and the Campaign. This is quite peculiar, given the fact that there is an Armory unlock available for Molotov when viewing the multiplayer lobby screen.

Given the fact that Molotovs are viewable in the Armory unlock screen while in the multiplayer menu, players begin to think it is, in fact, useable in this mode. However, it seems that no matter what mode you’re playing, every single unlock is viewable under the armory, regardless if you can use it in the current mode you selected. This brings a lot of confusion and questions to the player base concerning the lethal equipment’s functionality between modes.

But we can tell from a deep dive into the blog post put out by the dev team that Molotov Cocktails are in fact not available in multiplayer. It’s unclear as to whether or not they’ll add them as time goes on. For now, we’ll have to make do with lighting zombies on fire and imagine it as Timmy on the other team in multiplayer.

Does EOD Padding Gear Work in MW3?

The EOD Padding is a piece of equipment or gear players are able to equip for their load-outs in MW3 multiplayer. Its use is to reduce damage from non-killstreak explosives and fire, but many players are realizing that it does nothing. I can confirm that the EOD Padding Gear is bugged and not working properly as of writing this article. Players compare the side-by-side effects of having it on versus not. It seems that while it shows an icon on the screen of the EOD Padding working, that is not the case.

Now, you might think that this bug isn’t a priority, given the myriad of other issues currently plaguing MW3. However, a card on the official MW3 Trello board shows that the developers do, in fact, know that it is not working properly.

This workboard shows players every known issue across multiplayer, zombies, and global problems. For now, it seems all we can do is wait and equip other gear that actually works while Activision works on solving the dilemma. Only time will tell if this is a quick and easy fix or if players will continue to get noob-tubed as soon as they spawn due to the EOD Padding not working.

Is Pinging in Search and Destroy Bugged in MW3?

A few days after the release of MW3, players queuing up the Search and Destroy game mode might have noticed a key part of the game missing. As of writing this article, players cannot ping while playing a normal match of Search and Destroy. What’s more, developers have stated on their official Trello issues board that this problem is currently under investigation. But the removal of pings was actually a decision made on their part.

It seems at launch, dead players could exploit the ping system in order to help their teammates and give them an unfair advantage. Furthermore, removing the ping system from S&D altogether seems to have not made players too happy.

However, given the news that came out after the game’s release, stating the development cycle of MW3 was a rocky one might be a reason why so many integral gameplay systems are malfunctioning. Unfortunately, there isn’t any way to fix this on the player’s side of things. We’ll just have to wait and see when these problems get fixed and hope you don’t need to ping anything.
