Dead By Daylight Codes FAQ

How to Redeem Codes

To redeem a code in Dead By Daylight, all you have to do is visit the in-game store and look for the “REDEEM CODE” button on the top right of the screen, right under your player rank icon. Click that button, and you’ll get a text prompt. Enter a code into the box, and if it’s legit, you’ll receive some manner of bonus.

dead by daylight codes redeem

Usually, the prize is lump sums of Bloodpoints, always handy, but occasionally, during special events and holidays, you can also receive cool cosmetic stuff like Charms and limited-edition skins. The only downside to these codes is that almost all of them have expiration dates, so even if you only just stumble onto certain ones, it might be past due.

How to Get More Codes

New codes frequently pop up around the holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween, as well as whenever the devs happen to be feeling smarmy in the case of that “NICE” code. Either way, keep an eye on Dead By Daylight’s social channels, including Twitter, Reddit, and the Steam forums, to learn about new codes as soon as they crop up. You can also get DBD codes by bookmarking this page and checking back regularly, in case you don’t feel like checking all of those other places all the time. We do our best to round them up and update our list as soon as possible.

If you started playing Dead by Daylight after the Chucky update, you will find that Player Cards have been added as a new feature. Player Cards are used to personalize a player’s game profile with various badges and banners. Find out how you can find them and add them to your card.

Badges and Banners in Dead by Daylight

A Player Card is a fun way to enrich your profile and make it more colorful and interactive. No badges or banners from existing characters have been added so far, which basically means we can expect them to be added in the near future.

The first banner and a badge that were added are Chucky’s, and they can be unlocked for free right after you buy a Chucky cosmetic. There are two types of skins here – The Good Guy: Back From the Dead, which is a rare skin, and a legendary skin by the name of Good Guy: Good Gal.

What we know for sure is that during the Bone Chill Advent Calendar event, which starts in December 2023, there will be more badges and banners to be unlocked. Each new day unlocks new rewards, such as Bloodpoints, Iri Shards, etc.

Some DBD players also hope that in the mentioned event, they’ll get to unlock some other iconic badges, like the Dwelf, Snowman, and Campfire badges. What we already know is that there will be three winter-inspired banners.

Edit Player Cards in Dead by Daylight

In the top right corner of the screen on your profile menu, you will see your Player Card. When you go across a blank field with your mouse, the Player Profile option will appear. Click on it and then you’ll be able to add all of the badges and banners you collected. Since you’re already there, check the player level, how much you’ve progressed in the level, as well as your grades.

In the Chucky DLC in Dead by Daylight, you can find both Chucky and his bride Tiffany. Unrelated to that DLC, there are also new banners and badges that make it possible for the fans to customize their profiles. Of course, the first banner and badge are personally Chucky. Here is how to get the Chucky icon and badge in Dead by Daylight.

How to Find Chucky’s Badge and Banner

Chucky’s Badge and Banner can be earned by buying a Chucky cosmetic in Dead by Daylight. After a long wait, player cards have finally been added. Chucky’s banner and badge are the only available items of that type that are currently in the game. Note, however, that they don’t come with the Chucky DLC and can’t be acquired for free.

There are several Chucky cosmetics available right now, like the one that allows him to transform into his bride Tiffany or the slashed one. Those are called The Good Guy: Back From the Dead, which is a rare skin, and the Good Guy: Good Gal – a legendary skin. In order to get a matching card and badge, you will have to buy only one of those.

We know this is the only type of badges and banners you can get right now. It’s also unclear why don’t the existing characters have their own badges and banners, but hopefully the developers will soon change that.

But don’t worry, we can expect new ones very soon, during the Bone Chill Advent Calendar event in December 2023. With every new day of the event, new rewards are unlocked, such as cosmetics, Iri Shards, etc. Players are also hoping for a Dwelf badge, as well as Campfire and Snowman badges. You can also expect some badges with motives inspired by winter.

How to Play PTB in Dead by Daylight (DBD)? https://gamerjournalist.com/how-to-play-ptb-in-dead-by-daylight-dbd/ Thu, 09 Nov 2023 17:15:23 +0000 https://gamerjournalist.com/?p=521608 Try out new killers, survivors, and more with this public test build.

Developers of Dead by Daylight are always looking to test new content before it is fully released. So, let’s start running and figure out how to play PTB in Dead by Daylight (DBD).

The PTB, otherwise known as the Public Test Beta, is a place where developers can test new content in a game before it is available to everyone. And in DBD, this could be new survivors, killers, perks, or everything in between. However, not everyone is able to play the PTB.

Where to Play PTB in Dead By Daylight?

Sadly, only players who have DBD on Steam can participate in the PTB. Developers Behavior Interactive usually releases a new PTB 3 weeks before the new content is released officially. Furthermore, players can also get a sneak peek at any buffs or nerfs to current characters in the game from the PTB. It should go without saying, but any progress you make while playing the PTB won’t transfer over to the live version of the game.

When you first load into Steam, go ahead and find Dead by Daylight in your library. Then, right-click the game and select ‘Properties.’ Next, navigate over to the ‘Betas’ tab on the left, and you should see a section that says ‘Beta Participation.’ Click the drop-down menu to the right, and if the PTB is available, you’ll see an option to select ‘public-test – External Branch for Public Tests.’ From here, Steam should go ahead and update the game with any relevant content needed for the PTB. After it’s done, start up the game and make sure to select the PTB for available launch options. Now get in there and start killing or start surviving; time’s running out.

All Masks in the Dead by Daylight 2023 Twisted Masquerade Event https://gamerjournalist.com/all-masks-in-the-dead-by-daylight-2023-twisted-masquerade-event/ Sun, 25 Jun 2023 01:58:21 +0000 https://gamerjournalist.com/?p=495684 Masked by Daylight!

The post All Masks in the Dead by Daylight 2023 Twisted Masquerade Event appeared first on Gamer Journalist.

]]>
Dead by Daylight is a popular asymmetrical multiplayer horror game that pits a group of survivors against a powerful and relentless Killer. Whether you choose to play as the Survivor, trying to outwit and evade the Killer, or embrace the role of the menacing murderer, Dead by Daylight promises hours of thrilling, pants-shitting gameplay and endless horror-filled encounters!

Dead by Daylight hosts a variety of exciting events each year, with one of the most popular being the Twisted Masquerade event. Just like the year before it, Dead by Daylight is hosting another Twisted Masquerade event this year, which takes place between June 22nd and July 13th, 2023. In this limited-time event, players are introduced to a unique collection of masks, each imbued with its own sinister power and aesthetic. Read on to find out what kinds of masks are offered in the Dead by Daylight Twisted Masquerade Event!

All Masks in the 2023 Dead by Daylight Twisted Masquerade Event

The Twisted Masquerade event in Dead by Daylight has a lot to offer, not the least of which are the kick-ass masks that players can choose from. From terrifying visages to hauntingly beautiful designs, these masks add a whole new level of customization and flair to the gameplay experience!

This year, players can choose masquerade masks for each of the following characters: Felix Richter, Gabriel Soma, Zarina Kassir, Meg Thomas, Jonah Vasquez, Jeff Johansen, The Blight, The Singularity, The Knight, The Nurse, The Oni, and The Legion.

Out of the 37 playable characters in Dead by Daylight, players can obtain masks for only 12 of them; 6 Survivors and 6 Killers.

This may not seem like a very fair number considering just how many characters there are in the game, but the quality of these masks more than make up for the quantity! Plus, there’s always next year’s event to get your hands on a mask for your favorite character.

Here are official screenshots of all of the masks that are offered in the 2023 Dead by Daylight Twisted Masquerade event:

Survivor Masks:

Killer Masks:

These masks are as beautiful as they are terrifying, especially the Killer masks. Any player that manages to get their hands on these masks should count themselves lucky!

How to Unlock the Masks in the Dead by Daylight Twisted Masquerade Event

Now that you know how wickedly cool all of these masks are, you’ll probably find yourself wondering just how to go about collecting them. Thankfully, unlocking the event’s masquerade masks isn’t as hard as you might think!

All you have to do to unlock the masquerade masks in this event is just play the game as usual, while collecting a few special items here and there. During this event, there will be special items hidden around the maps called Invitations. These Invitations will be available to you regardless of whether you’re playing as a Survivor or Killer, and you’ll only need to collect a single Invitation per game.

If you grab an Invitation while you’re playing as a Survivor, you’ll need to repair all of the generators, open the exit gate, and escape successfully to activate it.

If you grab an Invitation while playing as a Killer, however, then you’ll need to eliminate a minimum of 1 to 2 Survivors in order to activate it.

Keep in mind that the masks you receive will be random every time, though you will only receive Survivor masks if you’re playing as a Survivor and Killer masks when you’re playing as a Killer (as long as you manage to successfully grab and activate an Invitation, that is).

If you don’t happen to receive the masquerade mask you were hoping for the first time around, then be sure to just keep trying until you get your hands on the one you want!

The Twisted Masquerade Event in Dead by Daylight brings an enticing array of masks that add a touch of mystery and darkness to your gameplay experience. Step into the twisted realm and leave your mark in the world of Dead by Daylight’s Twisted Masquerade Event!

Is Nicolas Cage Seriously Coming to Dead by Daylight? https://gamerjournalist.com/when-is-nicolas-cage-coming-to-dead-by-daylight/ Fri, 16 Jun 2023 01:01:37 +0000 https://gamerjournalist.com/?p=493901 National Treasure by Daylight?

The post Is Nicolas Cage Seriously Coming to Dead by Daylight? appeared first on Gamer Journalist.

]]>
Dead by Daylight is an intense, adrenaline-driven survival horror game that could scare even the most seasoned of horror gamers. This heart-pounding horror game is played in an asymmetrical 4v1 format, where four Survivors attempt to escape the murderous clutches of one Killer. Dead by Daylight is best known in the gaming community for its unique mechanics, intensely immersive gameplay, and terrifying Killers; but what about its Survivors?

Although there were originally only 4 at the time of its release, Dead by Daylight now has almost 40 total playable Survivors. With more Survivors and Killers being added to the game at every turn, you’d think that fans would cease to be amazed by much in the game’s frequent updates. But with the recent release of a certain trailer by the game’s developers, that all may be about to change. Keep reading to find out if fans are really going to be seeing Nicolas Cage in Dead by Daylight!

Is Nicolas Cage Really in Dead by Daylight?

The idea of a renowned actor like Nicolas Cage starring in a multiplayer horror game may sound odd, but the idea may not actually be as ridiculous as it seems. As unbelievable as it sounds, Nicolas Cage will indeed become a permanent fixture in Dead by Daylight’s gameplay.

A new playable character modeled after Nicolas Cage was officially released on July 25th, 2023, in Chapter 28.5: Nicolas Cage, a Half-Chapter DLC. A teaser trailer for his new character was released by Behaviour Interactive on May 17th, 2023, and was the first public mention of Cage’s addition to the game.

Shortly after the teaser trailer was released, in an interview on the matter, Nicolas Cage himself stated that he’d personally be voicing a “heightened, exaggerated version of a film actor named Nick Cage” for the game.

He also stated that his character “…[goes] to a location thinking that he’s making a movie, and instead he wakes up in The Fog.” So, for those of you familiar with the franchise, it’s sort of like a Johhny Cage situation from Mortal Kombat (they do have the same last name, after all).

This news came way out of the left field for many DBD fans, as the National Treasure star seemingly has nothing to do with the franchise at all. Many fans appropriately assumed the trailer was a joke, and many more still refuse to believe it, but regardless of how you feel about this new character addition, you’ll still be greeted by Nicolas Cage’s face the next time you log in to Dead by Daylight.

Is Nicolas Cage a Survivor or a Killer?

As hilarious as it would be to see Nicolas Cage as a Killer, he actually happens to be a Survivor. Players will finally be able to take on the role of renowned film actor Nicolas Cage to escape the undead horrors of The Fog!

As with all of the other Survivors in Dead by Daylight, Nicolas Cage has his own unique set of perks. His perks include Dramaturgy, Scene Partner, and Plot Twist. Here are all the perks that you can expect to utilize when you play as Nicolas Cage in Dead by Daylight:

  • Whenever your character is Healthy, the Dramaturgy perk activates the following:
    • Press the Active Ability button while you’re running to run with knees high for 0.5 seconds to gain a +25% Haste Status Effect for 2 seconds. This will immediately be followed by one of the following effects:
      • Gain the Exposed Status Effect for 12 seconds.
      • The duration of the Haste Status Effect extends for another 2 seconds.
      • Scream without alerting the Killer.

Why is Behaviour Interactive Adding Nicolas Cage to Dead by Daylight?

After viewing Dead by Daylight’s Nicolas Cage trailer, the only question on my mind, just like the question on everyone else’s minds, was why?

The sudden announcement that came out of nowhere, combined with the fact that the actor and the game’s developer had no prior affiliation, “why?” honestly seemed like a pretty fair question. (frankly, it still is)

Well, according to Nicolas Cage himself, “one of [his] favorite genres is horror” and he really wanted to be more involved with the genre (besides starring in horror movies). He also stated that he was a major fanboy of Dead by Daylight’s infamous Killer Sadako, and he really just wanted to be featured in a game alongside her.

He specifically asked the developers to make his character a Survivor because he was charmed by the special bonds that the Survivors would have had to form with each other in order to survive in such a harsh environment. He also stated that he just really liked the teamwork of it all, and wanted to be a part of that.

While all of those reasons are perfectly valid and reasonable, it is still pretty funny that Nicolas Cage himself decided he wanted to be featured in a multiplayer horror game. I can’t imagine how he went about contacting the developers to ask for a special Nicolas Cage character, but I do know that I’d give nearly anything to find out!

Nicolas Cage may not be the Survivor we asked for, but he’s the Survivor we all needed. Give his character a try the next time you get down on some Dead by Daylight!

Out of all of the prominent characters that have been featured in Dead by Daylight, Nicolas Cage is certainly one of the oddest. Seeing the star of National Treasure at every turn in the game will definitely be an adjustment for many players!

The post Best The Singularity Build in Dead by Daylight – Perks and Abilities appeared first on Gamer Journalist.

]]>
Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer survival horror game developed by Behaviour Interactive in 2016. This horror game is played in an asymmetrical 4v1 format, where four Survivors attempt to escape the murderous clutches of one Killer. Dead by Daylight is most known for its intensely immersive gameplay, uniquely challenging objectives, and a wide variety of terrifying Killers.

One of the most egregiously horrifying Killers in Dead by Daylight is The Singularity. The Singularity is the 32nd Killer to be added to the game and it has had a major impact on Dead by Daylight’s gameplay. It can be finicky to play as at times, but once you’ve got it mastered, you can quickly become one of the deadliest players in the game. Keep reading to discover the best build for The Singularity in Dead by Daylight!

Best Build for The Singularity in Dead by Daylight

The Singularity is a downright terrifying Killer to come face-to-face with if you’re a Survivor. If the player puppeteering the Killer knows what they’re doing, then there’s almost no hope of survival for the poor Survivors, especially if the player follows this build for their Singularity Killer.

Here are a few tips for creating the deadliest The Singularity build ever in Dead by Daylight:

Best Perks and Add-Ons for The Singularity in Dead by Daylight

Just like all of the other Killers in Dead by Daylight, The Singularity comes with three unique Perks that players can utilize. The Singularity’s three Perks are Genetic Limits, Forced Hesitation, and Machine Learning.

Here are the effects of each of The Singularity’s Perks:

  • Genetic Limits – Whenever a Survivor provides a Healing action for another Survivor, they suffer from the Exhausted Status Effect for 24/28/32 seconds.
  • Forced Hesitation – When a Survivor enters the Dying State, all of the other Survivors within 16 meters of them suffer from a -20% Hindered Status Effect for 10 seconds.
    • This Perk has a cooldown period of 40/35/30 seconds.
  • Machine Learning – This Perk activates whenever you perform the “Damage Generator” action on a generator. While active, Machine Learning allows the next Generator you damage to become compromised, which highlights its Aura to you in yellow until it is completed. Upon its completion, you are granted the Undetectable Status Effect and the +10% Haste Status Effect for 20/25/30 seconds, after which Machine Learning will deactivate.
    • If you damage another Generator while one is already compromised, it will transfer the state to the most recently damaged Generator.

These Perks are frankly fantastic, as they’re mostly targeted toward slowing the Survivors down. Keeping these Perks part of your Singularity build is both the easiest and smartest action that you can take, in addition to utilizing them with some, if not all, of these add-ons: Crew Manifest, Cryo Gel, and Android Arm.

Here are the special effects of these add-ons:

  • Crew Manifest – Increases the range within which Temporal Slipstream can spread between Survivors by +2 meters, in addition to showing you the Auras of Survivors that are afflicted by Temporal Slipstream from a Biopod or another Survivor for 8 total seconds.
  • Cryo Gel – Increases Temporal Slipstream’s Spreading Rate between all Survivors by +25%.
  • Android Arm – Increases the range within which Temporal Slipstream can spread between all Survivors by +2 meters.

With these Perks and add-ons tacked onto your killer, you’ll become the deadliest player in Dead by Daylight in no time!

Special Abilities for The Singularity in Dead by Daylight

Just like the other terrifying Killers in Dead by Daylight, The Singularity has special abilities. The Singularity has access to a Special State known as Overclock Mode and a Special Interaction known as Electromagnetic Pulse.

Here’s what the effects of Overclock Mode and Electromagnetic Pulse are in Dead by Daylight:

  • Overclock Mode – When The Singularity Slipstreams to a Survivor, it gains a temporary speed boost when breaking Pallets and Walls, damaging Generators, and Vaulting. During Overclock Mode, The Singularity cannot use its Power, and it will not be stunned when hit by a Pallet. Instead, The Singularity will simply become momentarily hindered and the Pallet will be destroyed.
  • Electromagnetic Pulse – When a Trial begins, EMP Crates will spawn all across the Map; these Crates can only be interacted with by Survivors. Over time, these Crates will print EMPs, which can then be picked up by the Survivors. Survivors can fire the EMP to temporarily disable any and all Biopods and remove Slipstream from any other Survivors in range.

What is The Singularity in Dead by Daylight?

The Singularity is a terrifying Killer that was first introduced in Dead by Daylight’s End Transmission chapter. This Killer’s Difficulty is rated as Hard and is widely considered to be one of the deadliest Killers in the game.

The Singularity’s real “name” is HUX-A7-13, and its lore states that it was originally created by humans to help them survive in alien environments, but it turned on its creators after becoming deformed shortly after. This Killer was first introduced alongside a new Survivor, Gabriel Soma, who, according to the lore, is the sole Survivor of a colony that The Singularity wiped out.

The Singularity’s realm is the Dvarka Deepwood and its weapon is the Modular Claw, which is described as “a sharp instrument attached to the arm, wrapped in tendrils of flesh“. This Killer’s exclusive power is called Quantum Instantiation, which allows The Singularity to shoot objects called Bipods.

Bipods allow the Killer to locate and spy on Survivors. Once The Singularity locates a Survivor using a Bipod, it can “tag” Survivors, which applies the Slipstream Effect. Once a Survivor has been Slipstreamed, The Singularity can silently materialize behind them and immediately begin to chase them. A Slipstreamed Survivor can and will spread the Slipstream Effect to other nearby Survivors.

To sum it all up, The Singularity is a petrifying, difficult-to-play Killer that is truly unlike any other. Its unique Power and abilities make it a truly formidable enemy on the battlefield, and any Survivor unlucky enough to meet it in a Trial is surely doomed.

Good luck, Survivors!

The Singularity is widely considered to be one of the most difficult to escape from in a Trial, but have you ever wondered which Killers are the easiest to escape from? Check out Gamer Journalist’s list of all the worst Killers in Dead by Daylight to find out!

A newly released chapter (27th) titled Tools of Torment adds fresh survivors to the Dead by Daylight universe. A Brazilian sister and brother team, Thalita Lyra and Renato Lyra were introduced alongside a new villain called “The Skull Merchant.” Every additional chapter brings with it three perks for each survivor. Check out the builds that are best to use with Thalita Lyra in Dead by Daylight here for those who want to get the sister of the Brazilian team from the shop.

How to play Thalita Lyrain in Dead by Daylight – Build Guide

Friendly Competition

Friendly competition perk
Image via Behaviour Interactive Inc.

You gain this perk whenever you and a fellow survivor complete the repair of a generator together. Your repair progress speed with a co-survivor who finished repairing the generator simultaneously will be increased by 5% (for the next 45/60/75 seconds). This perk can only be activated once per survivor.

Using a generator build to compete with other survivors makes sense due to the fact that Friendly Competition is activated when near one. The following are the best perks that can come along with friendly competition and will help you and your co-survivors take the generators at top speed:

  • Corrective Action
  • Déjà Vu
  • Spine Chill
  • Prove Thyself
  • Bond
  • Resilience

Spine Chill, Corrective Action, or an adrenaline perk would be effective if you’re good at finding generators. Identify co-survivors who currently work on generators so that you can effectively use this build. In collaboration, Prove Thyself guarantees your generation will accelerate, whereas Resilience increases it when you are hurt. Déjà Vu also guarantees generators are always available with its search engine.

Cut Loose

Cut loose perk
Image via Behaviour Interactive Inc.

In a chase, after performing a rush vault, Cut Loose will be activated. Within the next four, five, or six seconds, your rushed vaults will be silent. Resetting the timer is possible by performing another rushed vault as long as the clock hasn’t run out. It takes 45 seconds for the perk to cool down after the timer runs out.

If you’re looking to blindside the killer while still being able to escape in case things start to escalate, Cut Loose is the perfect perk for you. Ideally, this perk should be built for looping/runners in order to utilize this perk effectively. Among the perks that Cut Loose is compatible with are the following:

  • Iron Will
  • Windows of Opportunity
  • Lightweight
  • Lithe

Related: The Essential Dead by Daylight Survivor Perks

Choosing Cut Loose is limited to choosing three perks, so pick the ones that fit your needs. The auras of all windows you are looking for will be illuminated in yellow if you use Windows of Opportunity. Getting out of danger quickly becomes easier when you’re powered up by Lithe. You’ll get rid of your scratches faster if you’re lightweight, as it makes them disappear quicker. Additionally, using Iron Will will reduce your pain grunts.

Teamwork: Power of Two

Teamwork: power of two perk
Image via Behaviour Interactive Inc.

You will have the haste status extend to both of you if you are within 12 meters of each other after healing another survivor with this perk. In response to the haste effect, survivors move faster. If you want the haste status to continue with Teamwork: Power of Two, a healer build will allow you to follow your recently healed survivor. You should pick three more perks from the following list in order to get the most out of this perk:

  • Boon: Dark Theory
  • Empathy
  • Hope
  • Aftercare
  • Teamwork: Collective Stealth

It’s a great idea to purchase Hope as well as Boon: Dark Theory if you’d like to add speed to your game. The best thing to do is to play Boon: Dark Theory if you are a team player.

Furthermore, when it comes to using this perk, you’d need a partner, as it’s quite challenging to stick close to a random survivor. Aftercare lets you see the aura of someone you’re healing, allowing you to keep in close contact with them using Empathy. The perk of Collective Stealth rewards you for staying close to your teammate, another bonus that suppresses both of your scratch marks as long as you stay together.
