Solution for Palworld Black Screen on Game Pass and Steam

There are a number of things that you can do to remove the black screen issue for Palworld. And, yes, we know you’ve probably tried a few, and they didn’t work, but stick with us. We’ll list all fixes that we can think of, both basic and advanced, because we want to make sure that we’ve covered everything and increase your chances of fixing your game.

Basic Fixes for Palworld Black Screen (Quick Fixes)

Check the minimum and recommended system requirements

Palworld will require you to have quite a strong PC, so make sure that you meet the requirements. Even if you do, make sure that you aren’t forcing your system above its capabilities and use lower graphics settings if needed. See the official requirements below.

Minimum requirements:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 or later (64-Bit)
Processor: i5-3570K 3.4 GHz 4 Core
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050 (2GB)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 40 GB available space
Additional Notes: An Internet connection is required for multiplayer. SSD required.

Recommended requirements:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 or later (64-Bit)
Processor: i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8 Core
Memory: 32 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce RTX 2070
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 40 GB available space
Additional Notes: An Internet connection is required for multiplayer. SSD required.

Run Game as Administrator

Try running your game and/or Steam as an Administrator and see if that fixes the issue. Find the .exe file of the game in your install folder (not your desktop icon), right-click it, and select “Run as Administrator.” You can do the same thing with Steam and see if the game behaves in any different way.

Don’t Overclock Your CPU and GPU

Consider skipping overclocking your PC with this game, as it can cause black screens and additional problems. It may be best to wait for the full release of the game before you try anything like this.

Remove Mods

If you’re using one or more mods for the game we strongly advise that you remove them. The game is in early release and it’s being updated often so the chances of mods causing black screens and crashes is pretty high. Wait for the game’s full release before you try modding it.

Advanced Fixes for Palworld Black Screen (Longer Fixes)

Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Yeah, this is a typical step that you should take any time when you’re experiencing video problems in your games. You can quickly replace your drivers by using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), which will uninstall your drivers and find new ones for you automatically.

Reinstalling graphics drivers can take some time and a couple of PC restarts, so keep that in mind.

Note: It’s not recommended that you run Palworld with integrated graphics, and if you do, you might face more problems.

Verify Game Files

Verifying your game files can repair your game and help you with plenty of problems, including black screens. To do it, open Steam, right-click on Palworld and go to Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

To verify game files on Game Pass, go to the Xbox app, right-click on your game, and select Manage > Files > Verify and Repair.

What Can You Do if None of the Fixes Work?

If none of our fixes worked for you, don’t despair. They might get resolved automatically with new game updates. The game is still pretty fresh and buggy, and new fixes are released almost daily. So, sit tight and try running the game again every time you see there’s been an update.
